The Engine Roars

Alright adventurers, it has been a few weeks since the last update, but finals season absolutely body-slammed me this semester. The good news is… progress never stopped.

The BIG milestone:
Phase 1 of spellcasting is now LIVE in production.

Players can now:

  • Create spellcasting characters
  • View available spells
  • Choose spells based on class and level

This is the first real foundation of the magic system going online, and it unlocks a ton of future work we have been waiting on.

We also fixed several combat/stat issues that have been hanging around:

  • Attack bonus calculations are now working correctly
  • Initiative no longer shows zeroes all the time
  • Saving throws now display proper values

Those fixes may sound small, but they clean up a lot of weirdness during character viewing and combat prep.

Real life update:
My daughter graduates from the University of Arkansas this Saturday with her accounting degree, so the Baz household is pretty excited right now. Proud dad moment for sure.

Now here is the important part…

School is finally over for a few weeks before summer classes start on June 1st, which gives me about 21 solid days to push hard on development.

The goal for the next 3 weeks:

  • Finish the full spellcasting system
  • Get active combat spell usage online
  • Start building mini-campaign functionality

And honestly… mini-campaigns are where things start getting really interesting.

We already have:

  • Character creation
  • Combat
  • Narration
  • Equipment
  • Ranged combat
  • Spell foundations

The next step is making the world feel connected instead of isolated battles.

As always, thank you to everyone testing, reporting bugs, and breaking things in creative ways. Every weird edge case you find helps tighten the engine up.

Keep those Swords Sharp
