About Me

Tharendell was born from a lifelong love of classic fantasy roleplaying, retro computing, and the raw storytelling power of imagination. As a graduate student in Artificial Intelligence, I set out to create a living world that could be explored not only around the table, but also through the lens of AI — blending traditional narrative structures with modern language models.

I created Tharendell to serve as a campaign world for DM42, my AI Dungeon Master system, which merges fine-tuned language models with symbolic linguistics and RAG-enhanced storytelling. But more than that, I wanted to capture the feel of those late-night tabletop sessions — dice clattering, lore unfolding, danger lurking around every corner — and deliver that through a retro BBS experience powered by modern tech.

Daggerford Hallow, the Barklings, the ruins of Velis Cor — these aren’t just setting pieces. They’re invitations. To adventure. To curiosity. To build stories together, one player choice at a time.
